Still Waiting...............

Waiting is very chilling here in Sector 62

Statistics says:

Bangalore Boxes over...Chennai Going on

Folks,

Bangalore boxes are opened. (9 Booths)

Now Chennai boxes are being opened. (12 Booths)

Followed by Coimbatore, Ernakulam and Hyderabad

The count of Bangalore ballots, Chennai ballots booth-wise and date-wise will be announced after tallying with the polling officer's tally sheet.

Can we extrapolate based on 2009 Election Counting:
Last 2009 Elections, same date 24th Dec, 2009 evening Ballot Boxes were opened and the Quota was fixed on 25th December by Afternoon 2 pm. The First Count was known only at 10:30 pm on 25th December 2009.

Will the same magic be repeated this time!!!!!

Let's Hope for the Best that had happened inside the secret chamber

Ballot Boxes Opening....

Folks,

Ballot Boxes are being opened for the following cities:

Cities: Booth No

Chennai : S017 to S029
Bangalore : S005 to S013 (First Box S005 Already opened)
Hyderabad : S047 to S052
Ernakulam : S063 to S065
 Coimbatore : S034 and S035

The process is to tally the polling officer tally sheet of votes polled with the no of ballot papers inside the box. This process will take a minimum of 3 hours. Let’s hope all the boxes gets tallied. (The phase 1 ballot box opening will get over minimum by 7 pm)

Respectively, for regional and central council tally is made with the polling officer’s tally sheet with ballot papers inside the ballot boxes.

Please Wait..........

Folks,

The wait is over; the ballot boxes will be opened by 4 pm. Validity of 1107 postal votes will be announced.....any moment .

Maybe because of the climate in NOIDA Sector 62, the counting processes seem to be done bit leisurely.

There are two possibilities now, either the entire ballot boxes will be opened in one go; or the ballot boxes of major cities alone will be opened and carried over for tomorrow. Anyhow, ballot boxes on both Regional and Central Council will be opened simultaneously. Let’s wait and watch the upshot…………

First Count...The Winning Number

Folks,

  • After working out the “quota”, the valid votes are sorted out  and divided into parcels/buckets (and put into respective plastic trays, this time the tray size is quite large because of bigger size ballot paper) according to the candidates serial number for whom the first preference is marked on the respective votes.

FIRST COUNT.....the winning number

  • The value of the first preference votes received by each candidate is then counted / worked out and the process is known as the First Count.

  • The most important step of the entire counting process, don't miss the excitement ..........follow stage by stage information. If the quota is fixed by today evening...there is more possibility of knowing the first count by today midnight. In that case....the EKADASI starts here at Sector 62....Wait for the SORGAVASAL First Count Results.
Seriously Counting the First Preference???!!!

Quota - Today - 24th DEC

Folks,

Today is the day for fixing the quota. The system of ICAI election counting process for quota fixing is as follows:

  1. First Step is to open all the postal ballots received on time (1107 this time) and to determine the invalid postal ballots to find the valid postal ballots
  2. Second step is to open all the sealed ballot boxes of central and regional council of 125 polling booths. Booth wise the tally sheet of the polling venue will be checked and tallied with the ballot papers inside the ballot boxes and to determine the invalid ballots to find the valid booth ballots
  3. Third step is to add both the valid postal ballots + valid booth ballots = Total valid votes
  4. Fourth step is to find the quota. The droop quota (ICAI method) is:

The Droop System Formula :-: (ICAI Method of quota fixing Formula)

Instant-runoff voting (IRV), alternative vote (AV), transferable voting, or preferential voting is an electoral system used to elect a single winner from a field of more than two candidates. It is a form of preferential voting (or ranked choice voting) in which voters rank the candidates in order of preference rather than simply selecting a single candidate.
